Christian Cavaness to Join Baseball Coaching Staff

Notre Dame Regional High School is excited to announce Christian Cavaness as an assistant baseball coach for the Bulldogs.

Born and raised in Cape Girardeau, Cavaness graduated from Cape Central in 2012 and went on to play at Lindenwood University–Belleville before signing with the Minnesota Twins, where he played professionally from 2015–2018. He and his wife, Grace, are proud parents to their one-year-old son, Nathaniel, along with their dog, Gigi.

“Notre Dame is in a massive growth phase, and the kids’ intensity for learning matches my intensity for coaching,” said Cavaness. “As a player I was able to reach a level that really helped me learn how to be better in every aspect of my on-field career and off-field life, and if I can pass that knowledge on to kids at the high school level, that just gives them that much more time to be great.”

Athletic Director Jeff Graviett said, “Christian is a great addition to our staff here at Notre Dame. I have enjoyed watching him develop as a player and now as one of the top young coaches in our area. He will be a great fit not only for our baseball program but for Notre Dame High School.”

“I want to see the Notre Dame program become one of the top high schools in the state,” added Cavaness. “One that everyone knows is going to be a challenge to compete against, because the players and coaches do everything the right way; clean and efficient baseball.”
