Notre Dame Education Fund Foundation Scholarships

The Notre Dame Education Fund Foundation has presented its 2024 scholarship list for the current freshman, sophomore and junior classes (classes of 2025-2027). These scholarship awards assist with Notre Dame tuition for the 2024-2025 school year. Additionally, a senior scholarship award application is available for the Class of 2024 students enrolled in college classes in the fall of 2024 who meet the criteria.

This year’s application will be a printed/paper application.

Directions for this year’s applications:

  • Open the application by clicking on the link below the list of requirements.
  • Complete the application by either 1) typing directly onto the document in the specified fields or 2) with handwritten responses.
  • In order to save the typed document with the completed fields, you will have to click the print button or ctrl-p and change the destination to “Save as pdf”. This will save the completed document to your computer.
  • For essays, please type it in a separate document. Staple essay and application together (do not put in envelope). Make sure to include the scholarship name for which you are applying on the essay.
  • Students should submit their completed paper application and any additional items required to the Counselors’ Office by 3:00 p.m. or dismissal on the deadline.

Deadline for submission is April 12, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. Late applications will not be accepted for consideration.

Scholarship recipients may be asked to attend a scholarship reception in the fall, date to be determined. Please note that amounts awarded may vary each year based on investment performance. If you have any questions, please contact Amanda Mueth, amandamueth@notredamecape.org.

Abigail (Abby) K. Jansen Memorial Scholarship

The recipient must:

  • Have a minimum of a “C” average academically
  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Demonstrates Christian service
  • Complete an application form listing any completed Christian service projects
  • Complete a one-page essay on, “How do you make a difference in your parish, school and community?”

Estimated Award: Four (4) $500 Scholarships

Bob & Bernice Buehrle Christian Service Scholarship

The recipient must:

  • Have a minimum of 225 hours of supervised Christian service as approved by Notre Dame Regional High School Campus Ministry (may be the same hours used to receive a Christian Service Letter).
  • Participates in Church, school and civic activities.
  • Good discipline and attendance records.

Estimated Award: Four (4) $500 Scholarships

Br. David Anthony Migliorino, O.S.F. – Class of 2017 Scholarship

The recipient must:

  • Have at least a “C” average academically
  • Have financial need
  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Completes an application form including a one-page essay on, “How do you take care of the community in a Franciscan manner?”

Estimated Award: One (1) $300 Scholarship

Class of 1967 Scholarship

The recipient must:

  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Have made significant progress academically
  • Have a financial need
  • Participates in Church, school, and/or civic activities
  • Completes an application form including a one-page essay on, “Why should I be considered for this scholarship?”

Estimated Award: One (1) $250 Scholarship

Daughters of Isabella #959 Scholarship

The recipient must:

  • Have a minimum of a “B” average academically
  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Demonstrates charitable involvement
  • Family is currently a member of the F.A.C.E. organization
  • Complete an application form including a one-page essay on “The meaning of a Catholic education and a description of charitable involvement.”

Estimated Award: One (1) $500 Scholarship

Elmer & Genevieve DeBrock Memorial Scholarship

The recipient must:

  • Have good standing with the school
  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Apply themselves academically
  • Participates in Church, School and Civic Activities
  • Completes an application form including a one-page essay on, “Why should I be considered for this scholarship?”

Estimated Award: One (1) $300 Scholarship

Wanda L. Drury Legacy Scholarship

The recipient must be in good standing with the school and:

  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Participate in Church, School and Civic Activities
  • Complete an application form including a one-page essay on “What it means to Serve Your Community.”

Estimated Award: Three (3) $500 Scholarships

Martha & Virgil Elfrink Memorial Scholarship

The recipient must be in good standing with the school and:

  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Have financial Need
  • Participate in Church, School and/or Civic Activities
  • Completes an application form including a one-page essay on, “Why should I be considered for this scholarship?”

Estimated Award: Two (2) $500 Scholarships

John A. Essner Memorial Scholarship

The recipient must:

  • Have a minimum of a “C” average academically
  • Have financial need (preferred not required)
  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Participate in Church, school, and/or civic activities
  • Present evidence of a strong work ethic
  • Complete an application form including a one-page essay on, “The importance of connecting family throughout the generations.”

Estimated Award: One (1) $500 Scholarship

Leroy Reinagel Scholarship

The recipient must:

  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Have made significant progress academically
  • Have a financial need
  • Participates in Church, school, and/or civic activities
  • Completes an application form including a one-page essay on, “Why should I be considered for this scholarship?”

Estimated Award: One (1) $250 Scholarship

Thomas L. and Helen Meyer Family Scholarship

The recipient must:

  • Have a minimum of a “C” average academically
  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Be a graduate of St. Mary’s Cathedral Grade School

Jean Bell Mosley Creative Writing Scholarship

The recipient must:

  • Demonstrate love of writing
  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Complete an application form including a piece of creative writing

Estimated Award: One (1) $500 Scholarship

Matthew H. Parker Memorial Scholarship

The recipient must:

  • Have a minimum of a “B+” average academically
  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Demonstrates Christian service
  • Complete an application form listing any completed Christian service projects
  • Complete a one-page essay on, “How you use teamwork to achieve goals in everyday life.”

Estimated Award: Three (3) $500 Scholarships

Joan Strohmeyer Memorial Scholarship

The recipient must:

  • Be a student who exemplifies the Franciscan Spirit of hospitality in the service to others.
  • Participate in Church, school, and civic activities
  • Be a hard worker who also maintains good discipline and attendance records
  • Completes an application form including a one-page essay on, “Why should I be considered for this scholarship?”

Estimated Award: One (1) $300 Scholarship

Katie Tanner Scholarship

The recipient must be in good standing with the school and:

  • Have improved academically since freshmen year
  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Complete an application form including a one-page essay on “Facing Life’s Challenges with Courage”

Estimated Award: Six (6) $500 Scholarships

Colin Higgins Notre Dame Scholarship

The recipient must be in Grade 10 and:

  • Have at least a “C” average academically
  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Complete an application form including a one-page essay on “What are ways that you or Notre Dame Regional High School can and have promoted mental health and crisis resources for your peers?

Estimated Award: Three (3) $500 Scholarships

Nathan Vincent Wibbenmeyer Visual Arts Scholarship

The recipient must be in Grade 10 and:

  • Demonstrate a desire to continue education in the Visual arts
  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Participate in Church, school, and/or civic activities
  • Complete an application form including a one-page essay on “Perseverance”

Estimated Award: Two (2) $300 Scholarships

School Sisters of Notre Dame Legacy Scholarship

The recipient must be in Grade 10 and:

  • Have financial Need
  • Demonstrated academic improvement since Grade 9
  • Involved in school activities
  • Good discipline and attendance records
  • Well-written essay on “What a Catholic Education Means to Me”

Estimated Award: Two (2) $500 Scholarships

Dennis & Ellen Seyer Performing Arts Scholarship

The recipient must be in Grade 10 or 11 and:

  • Have a 3.2 overall G.P.A.
  • Good Attendance & Discipline Record
  • Demonstrate an aptitude and academic standing in at least one area of the performing arts (music, theatre, or dance)
  • Must continue to actively participate in one, two, or all three of the performing arts; in both curricular & extra-curricular offering.
  • One page essay on how the performing arts have made a difference in your life.

Estimated Award: One (1) $300 Scholarship

Hayden F. Carrington Memorial Scholarship

The recipient must be in Grade 11 and:

  • Have a minimum of a “B+” average academically
  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Demonstrate kindness, joy & inclusion
  • Write a one-page essay on, “If actions become habits and habits define character, please share how your simple act of kindness has changed lives or how a simple act of kindness done today can ripple beyond Notre Dame.”

Estimated Award: One (1) $500 Scholarship

R. R. Eddleman Memorial Scouting Scholarship

The recipient must be in Grade 11 and:

  • Earned Eagle (Boys) or Gold Award (Girls) in scouting
  • Be active in scouting
  • Participate in Church, school, and civic activities
  • Good discipline and attendance records
  • Have at least a “C” average academically
  • Letter of recommendation from scout leader attesting to activity in Scouting
  • Complete an application form including a one-page essay on “How Scouting Has Made Me a Better Person”

Estimated Award: One (1) $500 Scholarship

Tyler Glaus Memorial Scholarship

The recipient must be in Grade 11 and:

  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Have at least a “B” average academically
  • Have financial need
  • Participate in Church, school, and/or civic activities
  • Complete an application form including a one-page essay on “Values of Life”

Estimated Award: Three (3) $500 Scholarships

Jeff Heisserer Memorial Scholarship

The recipient must be in Grade 11 and:

  • Have at least a “C” average academically
  • Have a good attendance and discipline record
  • Have financial need
  • Complete an application form including a one-page essay on “The Importance of Friendship”

Estimated Award: Three (3) $500 Scholarships

Kelso Jaycees Scholarship

The recipient must be in Grade 11 and:

  • First or second generation lineal descendent (son, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter) of a former member of the Kelso Jaycees, Inc.
  • After all descendent applicants of the Kelso Jaycees have received scholarships, then members of St. Augustine Parish, Kelso, Missouri shall be considered for the remaining scholarships.
  • Have a minimum of 20 hours of supervised Christian service as approved by Notre Dame Regional High School Campus Ministry (may be the same hours used to receive a Christian Service Letter).
  • Complete an application form including a 250-300 word essay on “Service to humanity is the best work of life.”

Estimated Award: Two (2) $300 Scholarships

Jessica LeGrand Memorial Scholarship

The recipient must be in Grade 11 and:

  • Have at least a “C” average academically
  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Have financial need
  • Complete an application form including a one-page essay or poem on “Friendship”

Estimated Award: Two (2) $500 Scholarships

Mathur-Mungee Family – Student Transforming into an All-Rounder (STAR) Scholarship

The recipient must be in Grade 11 and:

  • Have at least a “C” average academically
  • Financial Need
  • Must be a student recommended by a junior homeroom teacher to the scholarship committee for consideration
  • The scholarship committee determines the top candidates for recommendation to the scholarship granting family.
  • Homeroom teachers and the scholarship committee should consider the following for the students they recommend.
    • Has shown great improvement in academics, behaviors, personality, and social skills since their freshman year.
    • Has worked against all odds, overcome fears and limitations, and strives for success.
    • Has taken the initiative to participate in extracurricular activities.
    • Has exhibited exemplary enthusiasm and hard work to better themselves relying on their inner strength, willpower and dedication.

Estimated Award: One (1) $1,000 Scholarship or Two (2) $500 Scholarships

No Application – must be recommended by a Junior Homeroom teacher

Margaret Ostendorf Memorial Art Scholarship

The recipient must be in Grade 11 and:

  • Have completed two years of art
  • Demonstrate a love of and talent in art
  • Academically meets a “C” average
  • Complete an application to include photos of a few pieces of artwork

Estimated Award: One (1) $500 Scholarship

Trey Springer Memorial Scholarship

The recipient must be in Grade 11 and:

  • Have at least a “B” average academically
  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Have financial need
  • Complete an application form including a one-page essay on “Facing Life’s Challenges with Courage”

Estimated Award: Eight (8) $500 Scholarship

Bethani Vandeven Memorial Performing Arts Scholarship

The recipient must be in Grade 11 and:

  • Demonstrate love of the arts
  • Have good attendance and discipline record
  • Participate in Church, school, and/or civic activities
  • Complete an application form including a one-page essay on “Service”

Estimated Award: Two (2) $500 Scholarships

Saint Francis Healthcare NDHS Scholarship

The recipient must be in Grade 11, in good standing with the school and:

  • Have financial need.
  •  Have a B average.
  •  Maintain good attendance & discipline record.
  •  Be involved in school, church, or civic activities as evidenced on the student’s resume.
  • Write a one-page essay on “Why do you wish to pursue a career in healthcare?”
  • Have two Letters of Recommendation emailed to kimstcin@notredamecape.org — one personal (nonfamily member) and one professional.
  • Additionally, preference given to those who have been Junior Volunteers at Saint Francis Healthcare System.

Knights of Columbus Council 6405 Scholarship

The senior must:

  • Be enrolled in a college for the coming school year.
  • Not have received scholarship money amounting to more than $1,000.
  • Have good attendance during high school.
  • Be involved in school activities.

Estimated Award: Two (2) $500 Scholarships
