National Library Week

National Library Week is April 4-10 and our Friends of the Library Club has a great week planned to celebrate and highlight the valuable role libraries plan in our lives!

The Friends of the Library Club will:

  • Host a book review table where students may use stickers and post-it notes to put short reviews inside book covers for future readers.
  • Host the writing of a community story with students having turns during lunch to add their ideas.
  • Host daily Wordle competitions at lunch with candy prizes.
  • Begin collecting gently used books for a “Little Free Library” section of our library where students may donate used books and take home others to keep.
  • Accept entries for our book giveaway. Five books will be available. Students may enter to win one or all of them throughout the week (one entry per student only). Winners will be chosen on Friday and announced on Friday.
  • The Friends of the Library Club will also we collecting donations for the Veterans Food Pantry at SEMO Workshop & Craftmall in Sikeston. The food pantry is asking for nonperishable items & hygiene items. Cans should be pull tab, and they are looking for specific items like condiments, bottled water flavor packets and ramen noodles.
